Title:Living life
Medium: Dry point
Size:17.5x12.5cm
Exhibition Text:
In this dry point artwork I went by the same theme as my block print which was the obsession over feeling excitement .I based it on how traveling to these different places in the world would bring the emotion of thrill. The art piece essentially is the famous golden bridge of San Francisco. The waves are depicted in an exaggerated manner ,and the sun appears to the right of the image. The artist inspiration fro the development of this art piece was kathe Kollwitz an artist of the German expressionism movement.

Process:
1.)Sketch out ideas of what you want to transmit through the dry point.
2.)After having chosen the drawing you essentially want to transmit place the clear template that was provided in class on top of the drawing and tape it down so the it is still.
3.)Use a carving tool to carve onto the clear template the linings of the drawing you essentially want to be black(bold).
4.)Grab the sheet for you're dry point and put it inside a clean bin full with water, begin timing to about 8 min the sheet of paper can be taken out.
5.)Now we can begin with the ink, spread out all the ink on the clear template you made carvings into.(note it is important to use a small amount of ink don't overdo it because the next step will be harder).
6.)Remove all the resting ink that didn't go into the carvings you made.
7.)When the plate is all clean you can use the printing press to transmit the image onto the paper that was left soaking for about eight minutes.

Artist Inspiration:
The artist that inspired this dry point artwork was Kathe Kollwitz just like in my block point art work. The reason I chose her is because I think she really is a great artist who conveys the type of art printmaking has within .How she is able to create rough edges to make the print come out as detailed as it can get is just amazing.

Meaning behind the art piece:
For this dry point art piece I chose to continue the theme I had in the block print art piece, which was the obsession over feeling excitement in life; wanting to feel adrenaline or thrill over something. Like I mentioned in my block print explanation I truly believe this can be obtained by traveling different cities I have never been to. In my opinion there's nothing more exciting then being in a new situation and having the opportunity to get to gain new experiences throughout.

Reflection:
Overall the process of this was more time consuming than the block print making but the results were definitely better overall. I did not struggle as much with this project to get the look I wanted my piece to essentially take, this was probably because in the block print project there was more ink that needed to transmit than in this project. I really enjoyed it as well because it was a different method for printmaking which I had never practiced either. I liked that I was able to continue with the same theme as I did for the block printing project because it makes the message I am trying to deliver more emphasized.
