Title: Bright view
|
Process:
1.)Begin brainstorming ideas as to what art movement you want you're self portrait to assimilate.
2.)Once the art movement is chosen we can focus on a specific artist whose artwork we admire, after we can choose a specific art piece of theirs.
3.)Start looking for an image of yourself that you would like to use as a base to elaborate you're self portrait.
4.)Start drawing out ideas as to how you will incorporate the art movement and art piece you chose into the self portrait painting.
5.)Start sketching on the canvas the image of yourself.
6.)Create different tones since my art movement is fauvism it is characteristic of many strident colors which are incorporated through very wild brushstrokes.
I did many different combinations of colors in the process of this painting; the picture beside shows the type of color I used on my lips and on some areas of my face as well as the background. I also put many different coatings to get the colors looking like I wanted them to look.
Artist Inspiration:
Like mentioned my artist inspiration for this painting was Henri Matisse who was an artist from the fauvism art movement. The painting of his I focused on was the "woman with the hat" I found this painting to be very interesting and a great example as to what the fauvism movement aspired to create. The reason I chose this art movement in specific was because it was very colorful and I love the technique that is incorporated with it; the wild brushstrokes , which surprisingly you would think would turn out kind of lowly done but the way these strokes were incorporated within create a unique well elaborated and interesting painting.

Meaning behind the art piece:
The purpose of creating the self portrait was to connect it to a specific type of art movement I chose fauvism because I really enjoy when things in life are bright I don't like when life gets dull. And when it does it can always be fixed with a little color which is why I chose to do my self portrait on this art movement.

Reflection:
Overall I Think this project was fun to elaborate, although at the beginning I was nervous to start painting because I've always considered im not as well at painting. However Im happy to have accomplished my finished piece and even happier to have obtained more experience in this area which will help me keep getting better.
