Urban landscape
Title:Creating our world
Medium:Wooden piece
Size:31cmX31cm
This projects purpose was to create an urban landscape using a wooden base with a cutout design which was formed by four lines. After we would build off with the use of other wooden pieces. We were told many times to play with the light and the refraction it produced.I really wanted to use the light and shadows produced to create a unique piece. I played with the use of lines and shapes to create the form I wanted to convey.

I played with the use of lines and shapes to create the form I wanted to convey.
Planning:To start off first I began creating the design for the wood cutout base it needed to be four lines which essentially created a void.So I decide to sketch 4 possible ideas. My ideas did not meet the requirements at the beginning so when the MIAD teacher that was sort of the coordinator for this project came he helped me elaborate better ideas that would essentially meet the requirements. When I say he helped me come up with the ideas I don't mean he literally suggested ideas he told me to no think much about the lines to be more spontaneous. Then he timed me to create them in a fast matter and this is how I came up with my final design.
-Then after I had my design elected for the base I began to think of ideas for how I would set my wooden pieces which would represent buildings and such things.I was a bit lost on what makes a good architecture piece in other words my knowledge on the field of architecture was lacking for which reason I decided to investigate more in depth this.I found some key factors of what good architecture is the following are the factors I considered to be most important from having researched in :
- Maintainable - easy to maintain and extend
- Useful - Has to be able to be useful because of the flexibility
- Scalable - ability to grow in capacity
- Common Vision - has to have direction as well as strategy
- Agile - This means the place has to be simple and "elegant" enough to rebuild easily
- Extensible - This means the place has to have the ability to grow in features..
After having really analyzed these aspects that are primordial to good architecture I began to start playing with the wooden pieces.I tried to focus on where my light would come from and how these different shapes would make the best possible outcome.I also focused on making just a unique simplistic design I didnt want to overdo it, because in my opinion making things more simplistic makes a more graceful effect. An an urban landscape has to be something which is

Meaning behind the piece:For my urban landscape I guess you couldn't really define a meaning for this, I would much rather be able to explain my purpose when starting to elaborate this specific piece.I wanted to create just an area where it would be nice for people to hangout and have a good time with their company.
Reflection:Overall I very much enjoyed this project just like I enjoy the rest, it was once again a new form of art that I got to familiarize and construct into my experience. There were many challenges I came across when figuring out how to place the top part of my piece which was essentially two pieces of wood I wanted it forcely there however because I knew it would help create different shadow through all the area and refractions of light.I actually had to place them twice because the first time I glued them with the wood glue they did not adhere to the top of the wooden piece in which they are placed on , this was like in between a triangular piece and a more of a This is why at the end I decided to it was not only difficult to come up with the idea but
